How much does a website cost in 2026

Stanislav Klacek Published

Website prices range from a few thousand to hundreds of thousands of crowns. I explain what the price is made of, what running the site costs after launch and where not to cut corners if the site is meant to bring in customers.

The short answer

A simple presentation website for a sole trader can cost a few thousand crowns, a company website with more pages tens of thousands, and an e-shop or a site with custom features more than that. The differences are not about who charges what, but about how much work and how many features the site needs.

To give you an idea of my prices: a presentation website with up to five pages (Starter) costs up to CZK 10,000, a company website with unlimited pages, a blog and advanced SEO (Profi) up to CZK 50,000. A custom website with its own features is priced individually. You always get the exact amount up front, after a short consultation.

Pricing: what is included and running costs

What drives the price

The price of a website is made up of hours of work. How many hours mainly depends on these five things:

  • Number of pages and sections. A one-page site with contact details is different work from a site with ten services, references and careers.
  • Copy and photos. If you have them ready, you save money. If someone has to write or shoot them, it is extra work, but it usually pays off.
  • Features. Appointment booking, a price calculator, an e-shop or a connection to accounting or stock systems raise the price the most.
  • Language versions. Every extra language means translating and checking every page.
  • Design. A template is cheaper, a design tailored to your brand costs more, but the site does not look like hundreds of others.

Company size does not set the price

A small business with online booking may need a more expensive website than a large company that only needs a clear presentation. What matters is what the site has to do, not how many people you employ.

One-off and running costs

When comparing quotes, people often forget that a website also costs something after launch. The total bill for the first year looks roughly like this:

  • Building the website: one-off, depending on scope.
  • Domain: paid every year. A standard .cz domain costs in the order of hundreds of crowns a year.
  • Hosting: also yearly. For a smaller company website, typical plans range from hundreds to low thousands of crowns a year, depending on performance and services.
  • Maintenance and changes: updates, backups and small content edits. Either you do them yourself in the admin, or you pay for them as needed.
  • With website builders and some templates, a monthly subscription or paid add-ons on top.

Ask for the first-year price

It is worth asking what the website will cost you in total for the first year, not just how much it costs to build. A cheap build with an expensive subscription can end up costing more after two or three years than a website you pay for once.

Template, website builder or custom website?

For similar money you get very different things. A website builder such as Webnode is the fastest start with low upfront costs, but you pay for it continuously and are limited by what it can do. WordPress with a template is more flexible but needs regular maintenance. A custom website costs more at the start, but it is fast, has exactly the features you need, and you do not pay subscriptions for templates and add-ons.

Where not to cut corners

  • Mobile. Most people look for services on their phones today. A site that is hard to use on a phone loses customers.
  • Speed. People close slow websites and search engines rank them lower.
  • SEO basics. Correct headings, descriptions, structured data and business details decide whether people find you on Google at all.
  • A clear call to action. The phone number, form or booking must be visible straight away.
  • Your own copy and photos. Real photos of your business and concrete information sell more than generic phrases.

How to spot a fair quote

  • A fixed price for a clearly described scope, not "from" or "by agreement".
  • It says what the price includes: copy, photos, SEO setup, hosting, an introduction to the admin.
  • The domain, the website and the logins belong to you. If you decide to leave, you can take them with you.
  • You know what happens after launch: who fixes the site when something breaks and what changes cost.
  • Nobody promises you first place on Google. Rankings cannot be guaranteed.

So how much should you budget?

If you need a simple presentation so that customers can find you and get in touch, budget a few thousand to low tens of thousands of crowns, plus hundreds to low thousands a year for the domain and hosting. A company website with more pages, a blog and SEO care costs tens of thousands. An e-shop or a site with custom features costs more, depending on scope.
